Is an e-mail an appropriate way to let a person know if they have gotten a job?

I had 2 phone interviews and then drove 2 1/2 hours for a face to face interview. I sent thank you notes and followed up with a phone call in which I left a message. I never received a phone call back but I did receive an e-mail saying that I did not receive the job. Isn't that a poor way to respond to someone?

That's a very poor response. They should write to you via US mail or call you personally.
Reply:I think it is tacky. But do not change your approach.
Reply:Ho ho. You need to check out this website for some of the rejection emails and letters I've received (and keep receiving):

Reply:people who hire and fire these days are lazy, insensitive, dont care, and are too involved with thier own self centered life. they dont deserve to be employed.
