because some systems have a firewall that will either return or hold such e-mail until the message is released by the recipient, or the recipient tells the postmaster to allow the messages from certain senders through. The fact that a lot of viruses are sent via attachments could be the reason that such things aren't trusted.

Delete does not mean entirely gone, it can be traced. Is there a way to eliminate e-mail and IM correspondance from being found.

When you delete something from your hard drive all you really do is remove the ability of your OS to tell where the data is stored on your hard drive. This in effect makes the data invisible to you, and tells your OS that the location where the file is located may now be used to record new data.
Certain hardware (and software) can take that hard drive, and locate that information again by reading the data directly from the drive (and bypassing the instructions left by your OS, indicating the file is gone). However, this is only possible if that area of the hard drive has not already been written over.
There are a number of ways you permanently remove data from a drive. One is to format the entire drive, however in some cases a professional is able to reconstruct the drive using sophisticated equipment.
Another way is to overwrite the data enough times that the data previously contained is unrecoverable by any means. This is known as secure data destruction, and there are several levels of erasure you can preform ranging from a simple single pass overwrite involving writing all data with zeros (equivalent to a drive format), to the U.S. Standard DoD 5220.22-M, which is a US Department of Defense triple pass algorithm, as well as many combinations inbetween.
There are software apps for windows (and likely for mac as well) that can be used to preform these sorts of secure erasures on either individual file locations, or entire disc arrays. I have figured out to late that someone is running a e-mail scam on me and I think is trying to steal some propery from me by giving me a fake cashiers check and then after I cash it I'm to send him the remaining balance of the check and then he comes and gets my property. The check he sent was for 11,020 and my propery is 6,000. The remainder 5,000 I'm to send to the buyers movers so they can come and pick up the propery. I just dont trust this. I even e-mailed this guy and asked him for a phone number of the buyer, him or the moving company. I havent recieved an e-mail back yet!

They insist on sending you a check for more than they owe you, then they ask you to send back the difference. Initially their check appears to clear, so you send them the difference. Then a few weeks later your bank discovers that their check was written on stolen check stock, it's not really going to clear, and they hold you liable for the entire amount. But you've already sent part of the money back to the scammers. You're out of luck. Even worse, you could be prosecuted for participating in a fraudulent check scheme.
Your chances of actually tracking down the perpetrators is very slim. They're hiding behind anonymous email addresses and protected offshore bank accounts.
But it's not too late for you to protect yourself. Just don't send them any money. If you've already cashed or deposited their check, go back to the bank and tell them you have reason to suspect that the check is no good, even though it may initially have cleared. I'm sure they'll work with you.

You don't need to contact Yahoo, OR forward the email. It's a common scam that's been around for years! There is no Yahoo! lottery, and they are quite well aware of the MANY scams that say there is. Just delete it.

Go to your profile, click "edit my info", scroll down to "email", under "use another email address" click "add an email address", enter a new mail address which is NOT registered with Yahoo. You need this so Yahoo can send you a temporary password in case your current password ever causes problems. Click "preview" at the bottom and then "okay".

What can I do to ensure that microsoft outlook "autofills" the e-mail adresses of my contacts 100% of the time? I want it to fill in the name or email address when i start to type either of them. If you paste all the addresses into the BCC box, instead of the usual To or CC boxes, none of the recipients will be able to see each other's email addresses. In my Yahoo mail it says "show BCC" at the far right of the "To" box. You can click on this to bring up the BCC box.

When I go in to unblock an address and press remove then press save changes a message in the upper right hand corner says "error has occurred" and won't remove the address.
