Say a Jane Doe, Head Supervisor of a company has e-mailed you saying they would like you to come in for an interview, but want to know what time is good for you. In the return e-mail, what do you address them as? (I know I am probably asking a really dumb question, but I am not sure!) Do I say Mrs. Doe, assuming that she is married, Jane Doe, or no salutation at all? Thanks for the help!
How do you address someone in an e-mail requesting an interview with me?
I think I would skip the formality and just start out... Thank you for your interest in interviewing me... I am available....
Reply:In this world of Non-gender-specific (N.G.S) Corporate officers, a greeting of "Corporate Department Head" is most widely accepted.
Until you know the officer's identity personally, the N.G.S. title is most appropriate. Then you should address your correspondences as "Mr. / Mrs. / Ms. _____."
Reply:Dear Sir/Madam,
Simple, direct, respectful.
And it's also the accepted way to address things.
