How can e-mail be managed in the work-place?

I am studying the pros %26amp; cons of e-mail in relation to it vs face to face comminication. what i anm looking for is what if e-mail should be used in relation to groups and how can e-mails be managed.

I think email just creates work, wastes time and adds to stress. I am of the gereation that managed fine without email, and desperatly miss the face-to-face human interaction of yore. I have no time to do my job properly now, as I spend so much time in front of a computer screen. A company banned email and saw productivity rocket...
Reply:pros:

share data efficiency

communicate with many people at once

link remote sites

provide immediacy of communication over long distances

cons:

should never be used for conflict, confrontation

can become a time waster

copying many people reduces accountability, lessens the chance of something actually being done
