I just reciveived an e-mail from turbotax about my rebate, just wondering if it may be legit....
Has anyone that used turbotax received an e-mail regarding their rebate?
Depends on what was contained within the email. If they were notifying you that you would be getting a paper check vs the direct deposit due to paying your fees to them for the tax preparation out of your refund payment, that is correct. I believe they sent out emails to notify people of that fact.
But if ANYONE asks you for your personal information, it is a phishing scam. NEVER give out your personal information to anyone soliciting for it by phone or email. And do not trust the links in such emails as many phishers (scammers) will also have decoy websites that look official to try to trick you.
Reply:Yes, they finally sent an email explaining that if you had your fees deducted from your rebate, you'll receive a paper check, even if the balance of the tax refund was direct deposited. If that's the email you're talking about, then yes, it's legit.
Reply:Yes, I received one, too. If it is telling you your stimulus payment will arrive according to the paper check schedule it is legit but I would not click on any links in case we get some copy cats trying to take advantage of the situation.
Go to irs . gov for the paper check schedule.
Reply:Yes I did and it is legit. The date it will come is based on the last two numbers of your social security number.
Reply:yeah i got the email from turbo tax. nice of them to send an email 3 weeks after i was expecting the direct deposit
